Who Are We?

 Share
The Greater Derry Humane Society, Inc. rescues animals and places them in permanent loving homes. We do not maintain a shelter; instead, all of our rescued animals are kept in foster homes until we can place them. We have a no-kill policy.
We are an all-volunteer, non-profit 501(c) organization. We rely on donations and fund raisers. Because we are staffed solely by volunteers, please have patience when communicating with us. We promise to reply as quickly as possible!
Besides rescuing and placing animals, we work to prevent animal cruelty and educate the public.

Don't forget to check out our current events!

The Greater Derry Humane Society is very active in our community. Please keep an eye out here for all the latest news and events that keep us connected with our animal friends.

Urgent Need for Foster Homes for Our Animals

Do you have more time? You can be a foster home, providing a loving environment for a pet until a permanent home is found. We supply all food, veterinary care, bowls, leashes, etc., as well as training assistance. You supply your home and love. You are the final stage of the screening process for prospective adoptive families. We are there to support you through the whole process. The rewards?
  • Having the opportunity to work with companion animals in need
  • Participating in the solution to the problem of needless suffering
  • The look on the face of a dog or cat when they know they are safe, and have food, attention and exercise
If you would like to become a foster home or want more information, please fill out the following form and a volunteer will contact you.
