Molly 's new family sent a Christmas card with this picture of Molly. She is loving her daily walks, trips to the beach, playing with other dogs and just enjoying life. Her family have all decided that Molly is the sweetest, most adorable, best behaved dog that they have ever had!

REGGIE
We heard from Reggie's family recently. Reggie is a GDHS adopted dog who loves his island home in Maine, and loves to go for swims and to go boating. Reggie goes there even in the winter months, and crosses the lake on the snowmobile with his family and goes for walks in the snow. He is loving life with his forever family!
Iggy, an adopted dog from GDHS, is helping his family welcome the troops at Pease Air Force Base! They sent us a note:
" I
just have to tell you what Iggy was doing last night! Our kids always
want to go to the peasegreeters.org and welcome the troops home. Last
night we brought Iggy!
He had a ball and all the Marines were just thrilled with him. I think he enjoyed everyone within his leash reach!
Looks like we will be looking for a Marine Corp jacket for Iggy, and be returning to Pease whenever we can! "
Look for Iggy on the bottom right of the video.

PENNY
Penny was adopted recently after being fostered for about four months. She loves to race around the backyard chasing her friends, she loves to go for walks, and she most definitely loves to eat. Penny has given her new family lots of laughs with all of her antics!
Trouble and Willow were both adopted from GDHS, Inc. The two of them were friends from the beginning, and even though Willow is now four times Trouble's size, they still play games with each other. They are seen here sunning themselves together one cold morning. They have brought great enjoyment and love to their family!
TROUBLE AND WILLOW
KEEPER
Keeper, a 13 year old Border Collie mix, has a success story of a different kind. Her story is a tribute to the power of the pack and the positive influence of fostering dogs. Keeper was never socialized properly and spent the first 11 years of her life without the companionship of other dogs. She spent much time alone and was very nervous and shy around other dogs and people. After her family started fostering dogs, Keeper’s social skills improved with each dog. With the first foster dog, she would alternate between completely ignoring him to being extremely nervous and hyper vigilant. With each succeeding foster dog, Keeper became more and more comfortable and her behavior more “dog-like.”
Now, at age 13, she has progressed to be the one to initiate play, to line up with the others to get a treat, and to walk with her head up and a bounce in her step. When the other dogs smell the grass, Keeper will run over to join them. When they are searching for hidden treats in the backyard, she is out there hunting with the others, having fun. When she hears the leash, she will sit right next to the other dogs, touching and being touched by them. Her family says:
“She devoted her entire life to us. To see her more confident, happy and even more comfortable in her golden years brings us so much joy. She might take a bit longer going up the stairs, and she might wince while sitting down. but as part of our pack she does this and more with much more happiness and spirit. Keeper even takes her twice daily medication without a problem since her friends sit with her and wait for the treats that always follow. She even lines up now for meals; amazingly she is not a picky eater any more! Fostering dogs and giving her canine companionship in her senior years has been a triumph and a true success story.”
Lola found a new home with a retired teacher in Manchester, NH. She gets all the love and attention she needs all day long. Lola recently received her Dog Obedience Diploma! Lola loves to play with other dogs and she now attends doggy day care occasionally to keep her well socialized.

CHANCE
It's a dog... it's a cat... no... it's a horse!
Chance was on his way to the slaughter when he was rescued. He could barely stand or walk. Look at him now! He is happy, healthy and rideable. Once again, a little love, good food, medical attention, and grooming and he is as good as new.
Iggy (somehow his name morphed into Bigs and Mr. Bigs) is doing great! I can honestly say that he is busy all day. There has been about three days when I had to be gone for the day, my dad comes to the house and spends time with the dogs on those days.
Bigs starts his day by getting ready for school with the kids, and he enjoys trying to steal socks?everyone?s socks! Then of course he is always available to clean up whatever a child might spill at the breakfast table. Around 7:15 it is off for a car ride to school. Bigs, Fritz and I keep busy all day. He is now able to walk up to our cul-de-sac without being short of breath (when he first arrived, he could only make it to our neighbors driveway). Once school is out, he is busy with baseball games, track and field meets, practices and soccer games.
I am enjoying watching him discover the outside world, he is inquisitive and looks at everything from an insect or a leaf blowing across the yard. I don?t know if he didn?t spend much time outside, but he surely seems to enjoy it. Some days he will just go out on the back deck and lie in the sun. (don?t worry the vet warned us about how bulldogs are sensitive to the heat.)
Days when we go boating this summer, he will spend with Nana in the air conditioning. So he shouldn't be lonely and he will be cool.
So I think he is happy, he seems to be. On our crazy busy sports days and we allfinally return home? There have been days Bigs will walk into the house and heads straight to bed. We find him in our bed before anyone else, sound asleep.
Thanks for picking us for Iggy, and I think Iggy is pretty happy also.

REGGIE
Reggie an older cocker adopted to a family in Massachusetts. He goes to work with his human mom. He enjoyed the Christmas brunch with the abundant extended family and the abundany food! He is living the good life!
A note from Hoshi's family:
I'm absolutely in love with my little baby, and I think I might be growing on her, too. ;) Last night she hopped up onto me for the first time--I guess she could tell my feet were cold! And she always sleeps right next to me, even if I fall asleep on the couch. My place is starting to feel like home to her, and she's beginning to find her favorite weird places to hang out (in the sink, in a bookshelf cubby, etc). ~Lauren

We adopted Lola from the GDHS in November, 2002. She's been nothing but a love bug ever since - both with us and her 3 doggy siblings. ~Nichole

MACI
A note from Maci's family:
I just wanted to send you an update on Twix. We call her Maci now and she is doing great. She settled into the house very quickly and she just a bundle of energy and affection. She found a playmate in our other cat Bella and we couldn't be happier to have her! ~ Samantha
A note from Brady's family:
Just wanted to thank you for allowing us to take Brady in. We went on Petfinders. We typed in Jack Russel and Brady's picture appeared. I thought to myself...This dog looks just like Bosco, his DOB is the same as Bosco, he is located in Derry NH. Same town we got Bosco. I knew this was Bosco's brother. I started sending emails and making phone calls. The ball was rolling. Once I knew they were brothers, I had to unite them. Brady came to live with us Dec 4, 2010. The town has an old soccer field with some trails that we visit once a day for a good romp. When we return the boys like to relax in the morning sun shining through our kitchen window. ~ Thanks again

MACY
A note from Macy's family:
Hi there, I wanted to give you a success story. Macy is a Sato who was adopted from one of your foster homes way back in November 2004. She was terrified of people and hid most of the time for the first month. However, she slowly came out of her shell and gained confidence, especially after some obedience training. She's now a happy, smart, well-adjusted dog who greets new people with wet kisses, and looks forward to seeing her playgroup buddies every day. She loves to hike more than anything else. I could not have asked for a better companion. Thank you so much for all the work you do to make stories like this possible. ~ Mike
A note from Gus' family:
Just wanted to let you know that Gus is doing great. He cried for his mom and siblings the first two days, but yesterday and today he just vocalizes for attention and is becoming very friendly and purrs constantly. I just had to show you a picture of him in our Christmas tree, acting like a kitten. We have to watch him closely, since this is his favorite place to be. He loves to play though and run like a nut. Thanks for everything, he is going to be a great cat!!!
MAX
A note from Max's family!
We adopted Max, a Min-pin, in June of 2006, and would like to send an update of how wonderful he is. Luna the Corgi is his best friend, although Rooster the cat is running a close second. ~ Geri & Jeff Herbster
This boy is amazing! We rescued him from a pound where he was to be euthanized the next day. He was emaciated, his jaw was fractured on both sides, all his teeth needed to be extracted. He was given the medical care he needed and now he has found his forever home.
A note from Bitsy's new family!
Hey! Here's some pictures of Bitsy. He's doing great and we all love him so much!

JES
A note from Jes' new family!
Jes is a lovely eight year old lab with a magnificent heart. Jes never stops smiling and she could single handedly fuel a windmill with her tail wag. She brings joyful noise to my home with little snorts, snores, and whines as she carries her stuffed animals around, as if to say... "here, look at my pretty baby." Jes is eager to please, very calm and was quick to learn her manners. Although it took her three months to be comfortable getting into the car, she is now the first one at the door when the keys come out. She is quite a bed hog, but the cats and I are adjusting. Jes loves to snuggle, be brushed and take early morning walks with me. She greets everyone with the same gentleness. She is a delight to watch as she becomes unglued at the sight of an ice cream treat. Thank you, Barbara and the Greater Derry Humane Society. In doing your never ending work you have found the perfect dog for me. I will always be grateful for this sweet little soul coming into my life. Jes has found her forever home. ~ Linda
A note from Trevor's family!
Thank you again for giving us the opportunity to share our Chinooks and Chinook history with others. Here are some recent pictures of Trevor (ShepX), our alpha, who was adopted from the Derry Humane Society on 4/10/98. He was thought to be 1.5 years old at the time. He is a dog of my heart, a once-in-a-lifetime best friend and extraordinary dock diver in his prime. He has been the best friend to many young human boys, who were always been looking for the same good time as he was. Currently, Trevor relishes his role as the play police with our young lads. Thanks for all the fine work you do and the new opportunities you provide for such lovely animals in need. ~Kris

OGGIE
A note from Oggie's new family!
We can't tell you how happy we are with little Oggie, who is the sweetest little boy you can possibly imagine... He loves everyone he meets--human and animal--and passed his vet exam today with flying colors. Not only is he a beautiful dog.... but his manners are also beautiful; furthermore, he is extremely loving and willing to learn new things. We're also thrilled that he is a Puerto Rican sato, as that has become our favorite kind of dog--and we were so excited when we found out he is one! Thank you so very, very much for making this adoption possible. Robin is the perfect foster parent--in fact, she's inspired me to want to be a foster parent myself, should you ever need one in this area....We thank you with all our hearts. ~ Scott & Jonathan
A note from Shoofly's new family!
I have to laugh because the one thing I figured I’d have to compromise on was having the walking dog that I was looking forward to when I adopted such an older dog. Well, apparently the rain doesn’t count as any excuse not to walk for Shoofly! My husband and I do walk in most everything but since he was traveling again I figured I’d have to forego the walk this morning. I never expected the dog to still want to be out but he was just loving it! Must be the husky in him. I just can’t say enough of what a wonderful match he is in our family. We feel very lucky to have found him. Thanks again for everything! ~ Lisa

CHARLIE
A note from Charlies' new family!
Well our cutie Charlie is doing so great. He seems like he has been here all his life. He fits in just right! ...Here is a funny thing........my friend saw Charlie and thought how much he looked like her brother's boy dog.....well they are from the same litter. And there is another friend of theirs that has the sister ... It was meant to be. They are going to send us pics of when Charlie was little...Thanks for everything! ~ Tracy

BELLA and SCARLETT
A note from Bella and Scarlett's new family!
Thank you so much for Bella and Scarlett! We loved fostering them and they were so sweet that we decided to keep them! They came at a perfect time for us. Our two aussies are getting older and we were trying to decide whether we should bring in a new dog into our family now or not. Bella and Scarlett are great with our older dogs, our cats and our children. They also go with me to visit my father in his nursing home and they get up on his bed and cuddle with him waiting patiently for their treats! Thank you so much for helping them to get here from Puerto Rico! They are a wonderful addition to our home! Here is a picture of them with Molly, one of our aussie's who is 12 1/2 - she loves to chase them! ~ Carol
A note from Sammys' new family!
The baby is doing well (yes, he's actually sleeping like that. We have discovered that Sammy definitely does not like the snow... However, he does like the fireplace...
